Mullin: Oklahomans Embrace the Entrepreneurial Spirit

By Congressman Markwayne Mullin

Last week, I traveled throughout the Second District of Oklahoma to visit with many hardworking Oklahomans. We discussed the biggest issues facing our communities here at home as well as those around the country. Our communities have been through a lot over the past year, but they have also been incredibly resilient.

Despite great challenges, they all found a way to move forward. I met with businesses that had to adapt operations in order keep their doors open in the height of the pandemic. I heard from health care workers and educators who went above and beyond to meet the needs of their communities. This entrepreneurial spirit is what makes our country the greatest country in the world.

While many Oklahomans were optimistic about the future and life after the pandemic, many others were concerned about the impact of President Biden’s policy decisions on rural Oklahoma. Small business owners are worried about the Biden Administration’s Executive Orders, potential tax increases, and the out-of-control spending. After overcoming a pandemic and having our economy devastated, theses owners concerned that regulations are going to end their business.

Our country is about working hard and the entrepreneurial spirit, not the heavy hand of the government that President Biden and Democrats in Congress are trying to force on the American people. While I deeply understand the concerns of rural Oklahomans as we move forward in this new administration, I remain truly optimistic about the road that lies ahead.

Oklahomans always live by The Oklahoma Standard: neighbors helping neighbors through tough times. No matter what, whether it be a pandemic or a threat of Big Government takeover, together we will fight for a better future for our children and our grandchildren.
