Stitt Alludes to Lawsuits to Recoup Losses from Tribal Compact Breaches

Governor Kevin Stitt has written letters to the leaders of the Cherokee and Choctaw Nations “commencing” a 30-day negotiation period and hinting at possible lawsuits over breaches of the now expired hunting and fishing licensure compacts with the state.

NonDoc’s Tres Savage writes Stitt’s letters contend the tribal nations did not purchase the minimum number of licenses guaranteed by the compacts, leading to millions in dollars of lost revenue to the state of Oklahoma.
