All departments in the Fed government need to tighten their belts. Why should the Defense Department be exempt given all the bloat they have. It will not harm national security. C’mon conservatives, start acting conservative!!

I too have an uncomfortable feeling about this administration Mike. One of my major concerns is the vast number of main stream media’s siblings and spouses who are working in the Obama Administration. I’m willing to bet even money that most of not all of these “media relatives” do not have the security clearances required for information to which they have access. We need a thorough investigation into, First, who has access and to what classified information they are privy to, Second, who authorized that access.
I won’t hold my breath.

It would be great if we could shut down a significant number of our overseas bases – we have in the ballpark of 900 of them – and bring home a large number of our deployed personnel. Time to stop nation building and playing empire without bringing home the spoils. The Wilsonian inspired interventionism is bankrupting our nation, coupled with the entitlement state we got from FDR and LBJ.

It seems to me we might need a few more troops on the border with Mexico and a few less on the streets of Boston as well.

We are borrowing our way into oblivion while supporting a police state and worldwide military presence with borrowed money and/or fiat from thin air. I would like to see a much, much harder line taken on all of this spending.

The purpose of our government is to protect our lives, our liberties, and our property – not employ thousands and thousands of people and attempt to make the world “safe for democracy” or protect us from ourselves. The biggest thing we should all fear these days IS the government.

Truly stunning. We must find ways to reduce the size of the federal government dramatically, and couple that with the elimination of the IRS and the income tax. Perhaps this will provide the impetus to push such an effort to success.

Why whatever do you mean. Surely the republicans that I have voted and campaigned for all my life didn’t turn out to be as greedy as the democrats. On a more serious note no politician is ever satisfied with what they can steal. Spending other peoples money is addictive and it takes real character to control those urges. Apparently none of our present crop of politicians can muster that self control.
