Oklahoma City Republican Amy Palumbo has announced her candidacy for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 85. The seat will be filled in a summer Special Election following the passing of Rep. David Dank (R-Oklahoma City).
“I am running to continue the tradition of effective, conservative leadership that has defined this state House seat for decades,” Palumbo said. “Representative Dank’s passing was a loss for all Oklahomans, but he will be especially missed in our district. He was a champion for reform at the Capitol. But for those of us here in Northwest Oklahoma City, he was more than that. He was someone who was always ready to offer a helping hand to a local family, a local school, business or civic group whenever there was a need.”
“I was honored to have earned Rep. Dank’s endorsement in my campaign last fall, and I will do everything in my power to honor his legacy in the House,” Palumbo said. “Before David, this seat was represented by exceptional women, like Governor Mary Fallin and Representative Odilia Dank. This is another legacy I hope to preserve with my service.”
Palumbo is a former prosecutor who led a division of the domestic violence task force at the Oklahoma County D.A.’s office. Her work helped earn national acclaim and support. She successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases.
A wife and mother, Palumbo lives in Ski Island. The Palumbos’ daughter attends Harvest Hills Christian School.
Palumbo attends Life Church, where she founded a Bible study group for working moms. She is a board member and legal counsel to the Warriors for Freedom Foundation, a national veterans support group. Palumbo drafted the bylaws for and is a delegate of the Lake District Coalition, a nonprofit group focusing on improving safety, beautification and supporting neighborhood associations throughout the Hefner Lake region.
“In the House, I will work for limited government, lower taxes and the business-friendly policies that create jobs. I will support our schools and teachers and work to protect senior citizens. I’ll stand for personal responsibility and Second Amendment freedoms. I am Pro-life and oppose ObamaCare. I will support free markets and free people in Oklahoma,” Palumbo said.
Last fall, Palumbo challenged an incumbent Oklahoma County District Judge. She garnered 49.5% of the vote in the countywide race, winning 12 of the 15 voter precincts in House District 85. “Being my home area, campaigning last fall in the neighborhoods of House District 85 was an immense joy. My volunteers and supporters are eager to jump right back into the campaign, and we look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors again on their door steps soon.”
