At the peak of flooding in April, approximately 60 Oklahoma highways were closed at the same time. Since mid-April, flooding has caused 150 highway closures in 38 counties. That’s the review from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as it begins the task of assessing the damage left behind from flooding.
Towns like Miami, Muskogee, Fort Gibson, Braggs and Webbers Falls were either inundated with flood waters or were cut off by them. ODOT assisted with the rapid construction of a road so that emergency and utility vehicles could reach Braggs. Some of the supplies had to be brought in by rail.
ODOT is assessing the damage.
