Calls for Walters to Purchase Emergency Inhalers Grows

This week, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond called out State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters for delaying the legislatively mandated purchase of emergency asthma inhalers for public schools. Now, Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Chuck Hall is joining the call for Walters to follow the mandate.

Tulsa World’s Andrea Eger writes Hall wrote a letter to Walters saying, “As I respect and commend your diligence in asking for guidance from the attorney general, I continue to be disappointed in the lack of action as this money has been available for over a year. Please end the delays and distribute this funding immediately.”

Walters delayed the State Department of Education from purchasing the inhalers and sought advice from the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office on how to proceed.
