For four years, House Republicans have waged an uphill battle, working to halt the most damaging policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, while implementing pro-growth and pro-American policies. However, a new day is approaching. The American people have given us a mandate to govern and to get our country back on track. We’re moving on and we’re turning the page, which is something that the American people desperately need and deserve.
Last week, House Republicans met to establish rules for the Conference and to elect leadership to carry out the agenda for which Americans voted. We were successful in negotiating rules changes which will allow for more cohesion and functionality of the Caucus. Our leadership, which includes one of Oklahoma’s own, Congressman Kevin Hern, will be ready on day one to implement America First policies. The focus will be revitalizing our economy, lowering the costs of goods and services, and safeguarding our nation.
In this new chapter, Republicans will work to make our economy affordable again for all Americans. Through the power of the pen, the Biden-Harris Administration’s actions, including billions in new spending, have pushed our country to the brink. It’s imperative we work to reduce federal spending, cut inefficient government programs, and undo the damage caused by burdensome regulations placed on American families and businesses. These actions will allow America’s economy to flourish while driving down the costs of goods and services.
An immediate priority must also be securing our border, putting an end to the surge of illegal immigration. After years of record border crossings, our border patrol agents must once again be empowered to uphold our laws. We will not allow individuals on the terror watchlist to infiltrate our country, and we will prevent fentanyl and human trafficking. These are commonsense solutions to make our communities safer.
Finally, this new era of government will restore America’s image on the global stage. We have already seen foreign leaders, who were emboldened under President Biden, backtrack on their aggression, signaling a willingness to negotiate with President Trump. The United States has long been a leader on the world stage, using its strength to prevent conflicts. Under Republican leadership, we will return to a policy of peace through strength and deter adversarial nations against further aggression.]
For the past four years, my colleagues and I have worked to prevent damaging legislation from being signed into law. Now, with a majority in the House, Senate, and the Administration, we are finally in a position to implement real change for the American people. Let’s get to work.
