U.S. Congressman Kevin Hern suggests that Congress needs to act quickly to extend the Trump tax cuts before they expire. The Republican Policy Committee Chair believes work on a reconciliation bill must get underway quickly.
Reconciliation is a process which allows for budgetary items to be addressed when Congress fails to pass regular appropriations bills. It also lowers the bar for required votes to pass.
Hern appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box on Wednesday discussing the use of reconciliation to extend the tax cuts, illegal immigration and border policy, foreign relations, and the possible opportunity with President-elect Donald Trump’s recent assertions that he would like to buy the Panama Canal and Greenland.
