Bice Introduces Bill to Stop Foreign Entities Buying Farmland

This week, Congresswoman Stephanie Bice introduced the Stop China’s Continuous Purchase (CCP) of Land Act. The legislation is meant to curb the rise of foreign adversaries like China and Russia from purchasing U.S. farmland. It provides incentives to states to prohibit foreign adversaries from acquiring land.

“Americans should own American land, not foreign adversaries. The Chinese Communist Party is one the greatest threats to our national security, and they should not be able to buy up farmland or the area around military bases and other key installations. By encouraging states to take a stand we will make our nation safer and more secure for the people who live here,” said Bice.

Recently, Congress passed a law which gives the U.S. Department of Agriculture more oversight of foreign land purchases. Congressman Frank Lucas was a major supporter of that reform.
