Oklahoma State Treasurer Todd Russ has been named the inaugural recipient of The Heritage Foundation’s Courage Award, recognizing his leadership in promoting corporate neutrality, protecting shareholder value, and prioritizing fiduciary responsibility over politics.
At the award presentation, Heritage Chief Advancement Officer Andrew Olivastro praised Russ for setting a national example.
“Treasurer Russ’s leadership has inspired us, inspired everyone in Oklahoma, and inspired state financial officers around the country,” Olivastro said. “He is leading the charge, pushing back against non-fiduciary efforts and driving sound business judgment over politicized agendas.”
Russ said the recognition affirms Oklahoma’s commitment to safeguarding public funds and rejecting politically driven investment strategies.
“Receiving the inaugural Courage Award from The Heritage Foundation is a profound honor,” Russ said. “This award reaffirms the resolve to protect the hard-earned dollars entrusted to me, and to lead with integrity and courage.”
The Courage Award is a newly established honor recognizing public officials who demonstrate conviction and principle under institutional or political pressure. Russ is the first recipient in its history.
