Dr. Jean Hausheer announced Tuesday she is running for Oklahoma Senate District 32, saying she wants to bring strong leadership and a limited-government approach to state policy affecting families and communities in southwest Oklahoma.
“My family and career have shown me that people succeed when government allows them to make the best choices for themselves and their loved ones,” Hausheer said. “Now, I am ready to provide leadership for our community in Oklahoma City and ensure that state government better reflects those principles.”
The district includes the northern portion of Lawton and surrounding communities such as Cache, Elgin, Fletcher, Indiahoma and Medicine Park.
Hausheer is an eye surgeon and has been active in healthcare and community outreach. She said her campaign will focus on protecting families, improving healthcare and education, reducing government spending, and supporting personal freedom and individual responsibility.
She said she will also prioritize what she calls a common sense approach to state government, adding that she has a record of working with others to solve problems. “Our community deserves better than failed leadership and fringe agendas. Unlike others in the race, I have a proven record of building consensus and getting things done,” she said.
The Senate District 32 seat is currently held by Oklahoma Senator Dusty Deevers, who won the seat in a special election in 2023.
