Former House Majority Floor Leader Jon Echols’ campaign for attorney general announced he has secured endorsements from 50 sitting sheriffs across Oklahoma, a milestone his campaign says underscores growing support among law enforcement.
The campaign said the latest endorsements reflect continued momentum in both fundraising and grassroots activity. Echols has also been endorsed by the Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police, positioning him as a leading public safety candidate in the race.
The newest endorsements include sheriffs from Seminole, Pushmataha, McCurtain, Marshall, Pittsburg, Coal, Lincoln, McClain, Delaware, Choctaw and Hughes counties. The campaign said the full list of 50 endorsements is available on its website.
“Having 50 Sheriffs endorse Jon says a lot about the trust and respect he has earned across Oklahoma,” Campaign Manager Isaac Hadam said. “These law enforcement leaders know Jon’s commitment to public safety is genuine and proven.”
Echols said the backing from sheriffs reflects shared priorities on public safety. “These Sheriffs are leading the charge every day to protect our communities, and their trust means the world to me,” he said. He said he would work with them to combat fentanyl trafficking and dismantle illegal Chinese marijuana grows, adding that “together, we will keep Oklahomans safe.”
Echols is facing Oklahoma Secretary of Energy and Environment Jeff Starling for the Republican nomination in the race.
