Mullin Faces Senate Homeland Security Committee for Confirmation Hearing

U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin took a step closer to becoming the next Secretary of Homeland Security as he faced questions from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee members.

Committee Chair Senator Rand Paul started by calling out Mullin for his uncaring remarks after the Kentucky Senator was attacked by a neighbor causing severe injuries. Mullin did not back down and defended his actions during his opening remarks and during Paul’s questioning.

Mullin was introduced by U.S. Senator James Lankford, who is also a member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Lankford said that Mullin is able to bring differing sides together.

“He is somebody who has the rare gift of bringing people together on both sides of the aisle. And the one thing I would say to every single person on this dais is regardless of whether you’re Republican or Democrat, if you want to sit down and talk about an issue, he’s glad to be able to talk about it and to be able to work it out and has very good relationships in the House and in the Senate,” Lankford said during his introduction of Mullin.
