Senate Passes Bill Setting up Domestic Assault Victim Assistance Fund

The Oklahoma Senate passed Senate Bill 2039 which sets up the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services Revolving Fund. It would allow the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office to provide better and more immediate services to victims of domestic violence.

Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat is the author.

“Throughout my tenure in the Senate I have prioritized victims of the horrific crime of domestic violence. We must do all we can to help these individuals escape the cycle of abuse they are in. I want to thank my colleagues for demonstrating their support for victims of domestic violence with the unanimous vote in favor of this bill,” said Treat.

Oklahoma is one of the deadliest states for domestic violence and intimate partner abuse.

SB 2039 now heads to the House for consideration. It must be passed by May 31, 2024.
