U.S. Senator James Lankford, joined by U.S. Seantor Krysten Sinema, sent a letter to national security officials demanding to know more about two Jordanian nationals who attempted to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico.
Earlier this month, the two men were instructed to wait while base security tried to identity them. They claimed they worked for Amazon. When that didn’t work, the two tried to drive onto the base but were stopped by a barrier. Both are in custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“These incidents raise serious concerns about our national security and about the effects of the ongoing border crisis on our federal government’s capacity to protect against threats to the Homeland from hostile nations and foreign nationals. As the Senate’s primary oversight committee, we request a briefing from the relevant components of the US Department of Homeland Security, US Department of Defense, and Federal Bureau of Investigation by not later than 90 days after receipt of this letter,” wrote Lankford and Sinema.
The letter was sent to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
