Walters Wants $6 Million for Classroom Bibles

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters is calling for the State Department of Education’s budget to purchase classroom bibles.

The Oklahoman’s Alexia Aston and M. Scott Carter write Walters made the proposal during Thursday’s Oklahoma State Board of Education meeting while the next budget proposal was being discussed.

His plan is to ask for the Legislature to add $3 million to the State Department of Education’s budget. That would be matched with $3 million from last year, giving the Department $6 million for the bible purchases.
