Former Oklahoma City Police officer and small business operator Bryan Husted is looking to win the Republican nomination for the Senate District 24 seat. He plans to build his campaign around public safety, conservative values and what he described as faith-based leadership.
“My family and my walk with Christ sit at the center of everything that I do,” Husted said, noting he and his wife were raised in the district and are now raising their children there.
Husted spent more than a decade with the Oklahoma City Police Department. His campaign said he has been endorsed by the Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police and the Oklahoma City Professional Fire Fighters Association, and plans to focus on support for first responders, government accountability and what he calls restoring law and order.
“Having served in the Oklahoma City Police Department, I saw firsthand the evil that our community faces,” Husted said. “I fought against crime and was the first line of defense against those who wanted to do us harm for over a decade.”
After leaving law enforcement, Husted said he began helping operate his family business, which he said gave him insight into challenges facing Oklahoma employers when government policies create uncertainty or added burdens.
Husted said his campaign centers on steady leadership, responsibility and trust, and he is asking District 24 voters for their support in the upcoming election.
Senate District 24 is currently held by Oklahoma Senator Darrell Weaver, who is running for Lt. Governor during this election cycle.
