Republican gubernatorial candidate Chip Keating announced the launch of Farmers and Ranchers for Keating during a campaign rally in Elk City, highlighting support from agricultural producers and rural leaders across Oklahoma.
The campaign said the coalition includes farmers, ranchers, landowners and community leaders who support Keating’s Oklahoma First agenda.
“We need a governor who’ll go to bat for us, and Chip Keating is the candidate we trust to put farmers first,” said Spencer Smith, a Beckham County cotton producer who will serve as chairman of the coalition. “Chip’s proven he’ll fight for Oklahoma, and we’re proud to fight for him on June 16.”
According to the campaign, founding members of the coalition include Newley Hutchison, Alan Jett, Monte Tucker, Alisen Anderson, Mike Schulz, Dillon Johnson, Scooter Park, Rocky Andresen and John J. Kane.
Keating, a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and oil and gas executive, said agriculture would be a priority if elected governor.
“I will be the governor who puts our farmers and ranchers first,” Keating said. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the coalition we’ve built and to champion common sense, conservative policies for Oklahoma agriculture.”
The campaign said Keating’s agricultural platform includes support for landowner rights, opposition to foreign ownership of Oklahoma land, reducing regulations affecting agriculture and lowering taxes on producers.
