Bennett Campaign
Forrest Bennett, Democrat from Oklahoma City, formally announced his candidacy for the State House of Representatives in House District 92, which covers portions of Oklahoma City’s south side, downtown, and Midtown.
“I’ve followed the legislature for several years now, each year hoping they will tackle the tough issues that are keeping our kids and our families from the opportunity to realize their full potential,” Bennett said. “Each year they choose instead to waste their time and our taxpayer dollars on unnecessary and sometimes unconstitutional bills. I’m running for the legislature to make sure that the people of House District 92 have a representative who will make tough issues like education, jobs, and safe streets a priority.”
Bennett views these as top priorities. “Education is a big issue across the state – just ask a teacher – but when parents have good jobs with living wages, and families live in safe communities, it is much more likely that children will thrive.”
“We have hard-working families in the heart of Oklahoma City who don’t have access to good schools or jobs with a livable wage, through no fault of their own,” Bennett said. “My view is that we should do all we can to meet hard work and responsibility with opportunity. That means creating a business-friendly environment and ensuring that public schools get the resources they need to educate our kids at a competitive level.”
Bennett is aware that the challenges that the people of House District 92 face are not unique.
“In many ways, what the families here in Oklahoma City need is the same as what families across the state need – good schools, good jobs, safe streets,” Bennett said. “So I’m confident that when I go up to the Capitol to work for the people of this district, I’ll also be working for all Oklahomans.”
Bennett is a college government teacher and attends St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Downtown Oklahoma City. He has early support from state leaders like House Democratic Leader Scott Inman and former Rep. Joe Dorman as well as community leaders like Councilman Pete White.
