Dianna Phillips, Sand Springs educator and community leader, today announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination in House District 66.
“I want to bring the concerns, hopes, and energies of this district to the State Capitol,” Phillips said. “Oklahoma should be a place where families can grow and thrive, and I believe I have the experience and work ethic to be a strong voice for our community.”
She said her interest in public service began in the 1980s, when she started her career as a researcher for the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma Municipal League. She went on to work as a Contract Coordinator for the City of Tulsa, retiring in 2006 after 20 years of service. Today she works as an adjunct professor at Tulsa Community College and a substitute teacher at Page Academy.
“We need new leadership and an independent voice that will put common-sense solutions ahead of partisan politics,” Phillips said. “I’ve been talking to teachers and parents across this community, and they are worried about our underfunded schools, our crumbling roads, and our state’s budget shortfall. We need real solutions, not more irresponsible tax-cuts and band-aid fixes.”
Dianna lives in Sand Springs with her husband Michael and their son Walter. The family remains active in the community – Dianna has served on the Sand Springs Museum Board of Trustees and Michael is currently serving his fourth term as City Councilor for Ward 1.
