Bice Wins Republican Nomination in CD 5 Runoff

Oklahoma Senator Stephanie Bice defeated businesswoman Terry Neese to gain the Republican nomination for Congressional District Five. Bice will face Democratic incumbent Congresswoman Kendra Horn in the November General Election.

When the polls closed Tuesday evening, the early results showed Neese in the lead among absentee mail and early voters. However, as results started coming in from the urban precincts Bice overtook Neese. According to the Oklahoma State Election Board’s unofficial results Bice took 52.93% of the vote for a total of 27,396 votes. Neese had the other 47.07% with 24,366 votes.

“I am honored to be the Republican Nominee for Congress in Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District,” Bice said. “Oklahomans wanted a candidate that could defeat Kendra Horn in November, and I’m ready to take her on in November.

During her victory speech, Bice said that it will take all Republicans, including those who supported Neese, to defeat Horn in November.

“Kendra Horn has been a rubber-stamp for Nancy Pelosi in Washington,” Bice said. “Whenever it counts, Kendra Horn votes in lock-step with Pelosi and far-left liberals who have embraced Socialism, have demonized our police officers, who refuse to get serious about illegal immigration and who demonize Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry.”

Governor Kevin Stitt was on hand for Bice’s victory saying that Republicans were ready to “flip the Fifth.”

Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman David McLain also was on hand and issued a statement after the Bice’s victory was declared.

“It is difficult to reign in my excitement regarding reclaiming the Fifth Congressional District with our outstanding, proven Republican nominee, Stephanie Bice,” said McLain. “Stephanie Bice is a fantastic leader, a true Oklahoma conservative, and the candidate who will defeat Kendra Horn in November. All Oklahomans, no matter their party affiliation, deserve to know who Kendra Horn truly sides with. It is not the residents of the Fifth District. It is Washington, D.C. progressive liberals. It is Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, AOC and the rest of the left-wing elite in the U.S. House of Representatives. Kendra Horn must be held accountable for her record; a record which includes casting her very first congressional vote for Pelosi as Speaker of the House.”

This race had national attention gaining headlines in the New York Times, CNN and other national media outlets.

The General Election is November 3.
