Lankford Joins Call for Free Trade Agreement with U.K.

A group of U.S. Senators are calling on President Biden to work toward a free trade agreement with the United Kingdom. U.S. Senator James Lankford has joined the group which wants to take advantage of the long-term ties between the U.S. and the U.K., as well as, opportunities created by Brexit.

“The United Kingdom is one of our nation’s most important and reliable trading partners,” said Lankford. “The Biden Administration should not delay to complete talks with the United Kingdom on our trade agreements to provide certainty for Oklahomans and Oklahoma businesses. Americans are eager to have a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with our oldest ally and expand transatlantic business opportunities.”

Trade between the U.S. and the U.K was $273 billion in 2019.

Lankford joins U.S. Senators Mike Lee, Kevin Cramer, Jerry Moran, Mike Braun and Rick Scott in introducing a resolution asking the Biden Administration to engage the U.K on the possibility of working on a trade agreement.
