Phase 4 COVID-19 Vaccinations Begin, Stitt Gets Vaccine

Monday marked the first day of eligibilty for all Oklahomans 16 and older to get the COVID-19 Vaccine. During a news conference, Governor Kevin Stitt received a Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccination.

“Today we are another step closer to getting our summer back,” said Stitt. “I am grateful to our health department for being relentless in their efforts to rollout the COVID vaccine in Oklahoma. Their determination is the reason why now, in Oklahoma, anyone who wants a vaccine can get one.”

Oklahoma has been one of the top states in COVID-19 vaccination rates and is one of the first states to open to all residents. While those 16 and older are eligible now, only the Pfizer vaccine can be taken by those under 18 years old.

The state’s Vaccine Scheduler Portal can be found at vaccinate.ok.gov. The federal government has set up a vaccine locator website at vaccinefinder.org.

“Even with all we’ve accomplished as a state, there’s still a lot of work to be done. There are open appointments across Oklahoma right now, so I strongly encourage anyone who wants the vaccine not to wait, and to sign up today,” said Commissioner Health Commissioner Dr. Lance Frye. “If you’re still waiting for your vaccine, please remember to keep following the 3 W’s in the meantime: Wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance.”
