Hunter Resigns as Oklahoma Attorney General

Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter Wednesday shocked political circles and sent media outlets scrambling as news broke he was resigning effective June 1st. Oklahoma City blog, The Lost Ogle, broke the news of the resignation and reported that it is related to Hunter’s filing for divorce from his wife and an alleged affair with a state employee.

The Oklahoman’s Nolan Clay and Chris Casteel write the newspaper sent questions to Hunter on Tuesday night about an extramarital affair. Hunter filed for divorce on Friday in Oklahoma County District Court.

Governor Kevin Stitt will appoint Hunter’s replacement until voters decide in November 2022 who will serve as the Attorney General.
