Fetgatter Touts Marijuana Regulations Passed This Session

It came down to the wire for the session, but a slate of medical marijuana regulations has been passed by the Legislature. Representative Scott Fetgatter led the way for some of those issues, including Senate Bill 1033, which allows the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) to contract with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics to hire more agents.

“In 2018 we bought the ticket and took the ride when it came to medical marijuana in Oklahoma,” Fetgatter said. “There weren’t many regulations and stakeholders on all sides of the issue have been looking for structure. This industry has blossomed over the past 3 years and we have been working to make sure there are structures in place to regulate and help give guidance to those working within it. I’m proud that this session we were able to pass so many important pieces of legislation that do just that.”

The Senate Thursday approved the changes the House made after nearly two hours of debate over SB 1033. It now heads to the Governor.

Other cannabis industry related regulations passed this session include an ownership disclosure law which also compels OMMA to inspect cannabis businesses on a regular basis. OMMA receiving increased authority to revoke licenses and to make critical hires to help with compliance and enforcement.
