Stitt Takes on McGirt Decision in Tulsa Chamber Speech

Governor Kevin Stitt took the opportunity of speaking before the Greater Tulsa Chamber’s State of the State Luncheon on Thursday to once again call for the reversal of the U.S. Supreme Court’s McGirt decision. It changed the nature of law enforcement within tribal reservation territory.

Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes Stitt contended the McGirt decision “threatens Oklahoma’s sovereignty. It’s a public safety nightmare for victims and law enforcement.”

The Muscogee Nation responded by pointing out the namesake of the Supreme Court’s decision, Jimcy McGirt was recently sentenced to three life terms in federal prison.
