Bice Warns of December Fiscal Cliff

Even as Democrats continue to wrangle over a large infrastructure package, the House had to pass a highway funding extension. While Congresswoman Stephanie Bice voted for H.R. 5763, the Further Surface Transportation Extension Act, she warned about delaying funding decisions again.

“Tonight, rather than work on a bipartisan infrastructure package, House Democrats kicked the can down the road and put up another short-term extension for highway programs until December 3rd. The country is headed for a December fiscal cliff, which will include hitting the debt ceiling, an end to highway funding and no agreement on government funding. This is no way to govern this country.”

Earlier on Thursday, President Biden proposed a $1.75 trillion budget plan. Progressives in the Democratic Party are holding back the Senate-passed infrastructure bill because they still want a separate agreement on another spending package.
