No Vaccine Exemption for Oklahoma National Guard

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has rejected Governor Kevin Stitt’s request for Oklahoma National Guard members to be exempt from the military’s COVID-19 vaccination requirement. Stitt made the request earlier this month and replaced the National Guard adjutant general, who then issued a memo exempting Oklahoma National Guard troops from the mandate.

Business Insider’s Abbie Shull writes Austin’s response outlined that the vaccinations were necessary for mission readiness and that failure to comply with the mandate may jeopardize troops status in the National Guard.

As a retiree of the US Army, I can remember the days of running the “gantlet” of shots and vaccinations. This is the right call, and Stitt doesn’t know squat about the military.
