Abortion Bills Focus for Deadline Day in Legislature

The Republican dominated Legislature is continuing to pass legislation which nearly bans abortions in Oklahoma as a bill deadline creates tension on Thursday.

Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes House Republicans flexed their supermajority muscle to push through Senate Bill 503, which bans abortions when a fetal heartbeat is detected. The Senate also passed House Bill 4327, which bans abortion with the exceptions of for medical emergencies, rape, sexual assault or incest.
