Republican Runoff Set for State Superintendent Race

It’ll be Education Secretary Ryan Walters and Shawnee Public Schools Superintendent Dr. April Grace in a runoff for the Republican nomination in the State Superintendent for Public Instruction race.

In the four-person nomination race, Walters had nearly 41.5% of the vote. Grace landed nearly 31%.

They beat John Cox (24%) and William Crozier (3.76%) to advance to the runoff which is set for August 23rd.

The winner will face Democrat Jena Nelson, who did not draw a Democrat opponent, in the November General Election.
