LOFT Report Shows State Deficient Addressing School Districts Impacted by Poverty

A newly released report by the Legislative Office of Financial Transparency shows Oklahoma has a higher than average number of school districts classified as economically disadvantaged and does very little to address the issue.

Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes the report shows that Oklahoma is the only state in our seven-state region which does not provide additional support for districts with concentrated poverty.

Almost 60% of Oklahoma’s 687,000 public school students are classified as economically disadvantaged.
