Stitt Joins Effort to Push Back on Biden Union Requirement

A recent executive order by President Joe Biden to require Project Labor Agreements (PLA) for federal construction contracts which are $35 million or more has Governor Kevin Stitt joining a group of other governors opposing the order.

The newly proposed rule could impact projects in Oklahoma which use federal matching funds, like highway projects. It would require those contractors to follow labor union terms and conditions for employment during a project.

Oklahoma is a “right to work” state. Stitt wants to defend that.

“The Biden administration’s proposal is a bad deal for Oklahoma and for the taxpayer,” said Governor Stitt. “It will discourage competition, potentially delaying projects and increasing costs, as we make infrastructure improvements across our state, all paid for by hardworking Oklahoma taxpayers. Oklahoma is a proud right-to-work state and I was glad to join 18 other governors in opposition to this anti-free-market move.”

The group is composed of 19 governors.
