Bice: Happy Thanksgiving

By Congresswoman Stephanie Bice

Thanksgiving serves as a time to reflect on what matters most, by gathering with loved ones and celebrating the blessings of the last year. It also reminds us of how fortunate we are to live in the United States – a country built on freedom and opportunity. This sentiment was furthered in 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a holiday, using it as a step toward reuniting our country during the hardships of the Civil War. Thanksgiving is a time to put our differences aside and reflect on our American traditions.

There are many qualities that make our nation uniquely great for which I am thankful. We are fortunate enough to be the land of the free because of the brave. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for our selfless men and women who have and continue to sacrifice for the greater good of our nation by fighting for our freedom. In addition, I’m proud to live in a nation where everyone has the opportunity to pursue the American dream and build a life for themselves and their families. We are fortunate to live in a country where each citizen has a powerful voice. Especially around election time, I am reminded of the strength and importance of democracy, and how the American people exercise their rights as intended by our Founding Fathers centuries ago. Thanksgiving and every day, I am proud to be an American.

We must not forget to recognize those who are struggling to put food on the table this holiday season. In Congress, I am committed to creating a stronger economy by reducing taxes on working Americans, rolling back burdensome federal regulations, and limiting excessive government spending. I’m determined to make life more affordable for each and every Oklahoman.

Lastly, I am especially thankful that I have the opportunity to continue serving Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District once again. It’s an honor to have your trust in me to be your voice in Congress. While we may not always agree, I remain committed to listening and representing you through impactful legislation and meaningful constituent services.

I wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day.
