Lankford Raises Concerns of Chinese Land Ownership in U.S.

With numbers indicating that in a matter of one year the amount of U.S. land held by Chinese interests has doubled, U.S. Senator James Lankford raised his concerns. During a Tuesday speech from the Senate floor, Lankford talked about how much land has been purchased by foreign entities since Oklahoma legalized medical marijuana and warned of national security risks.

Lankford called for Congress to take action and create a review for foreign investment into U.S. agricultural land. He outlined his proposed SOIL Act which would increase scrutiny of foreign land purchases.
