Senate Suspends House Members, Stitt Floor Privileges During Education Bill Consideration

Deadline week has been an interesting affair for the Oklahoma Legislature this week.

On Thursday, Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat temporarily suspended the floor privileges of House members and Governor Kevin Stitt while education bills were being considered.

Tulsa World’s Randy Krehbiel writes House Majority Floor Leader Jon Echols called the temporary suspension of privileges “the most juvenile move I’ve ever seen.”

A spokesman for Treat says because of the theatrics and lobbying efforts during last year’s session on the Senate floor, floor rights were temporarily suspended.

The House took Stitt’s side on his education funding proposal on Wednesday.
