Senate Compact Veto Override Fails, Not the End for Special Session

The Oklahoma Senate failed to override Governor Kevin Stitt’s veto on Senate Bill 26X which extends the existing tobacco compact to December 31, 2024. However, the issue is not dead.

Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoberock writes the Senate is expected to return in July to vote again. Senate President Pro Tem Greg Treat says the override failed because not everyone who would have voted for it could be in the chamber on Monday.
