Bice: The Continued Failure of Bidenomics

By Congresswoman Stephanie Bice

Over the course of the last few years, prices have risen across the board. This is especially noticeable during the Holiday season, which is set to be one of the most expensive on record. Just last week, we came together to celebrate Thanksgiving. The price of many Thanksgiving staples rose exponentially.  Canned cranberries are up 60%, frozen vegetables are up 10.7%, sauces and gravies are up 7.5%, uncooked turkey was up 7.2%, rolls were up 5.7%, frozen pies were up 2.7%. These prices are due to the failed policies of the Biden Administration.

However, it’s not just the Holiday season. Since Biden took office, inflation is up 17.6%, and on average American families are spending nearly $709 more per month. Food prices are up 20.9%, rent is up 18%, and electricity is up 24.7%. Gas prices remain nearly $1 dollar per gallon higher than when Biden became President. In October, nonfarm payroll employment fell short of expectations. It is clear, Bidenomics is not working.

Under the leadership of House Republicans, we are focused on cutting spending, reducing inflation, and getting our economy back on track. We passed the REIN IN Inflation Act which requires the Biden Administration to publish the inflationary impact of executive actions before enacting them. Through the appropriations process, we have also worked to bring forward legislation which cuts spending in a responsible manner.

Regulations are also leading to rising prices and a struggling economy. I introduced the Regulation Reduction Act, which requires that executive agencies repeal three or more rules before issuing any new regulations. This will halt the Biden Administration’s efforts to bypass Congress and legislate through the power of the pen. The House also passed the REINS Act, which requires every new major rule proposed by federal agencies to be approved by both the House and Senate before going into effect.

Gas prices affect every aspect of our economy, from farming and production to shipping goods to market. This is why House Republicans passed H.R. 1, which seeks to restore American energy dominance and lower prices at the pump. I remain focused on unleashing American energy independence.

It cannot be denied that under this Administration, life is more unaffordable. Many Americans are struggling to purchase homes or put food on the table. I will continue to advocate for policies that better the lives of Oklahomans throughout the Fifth Congressional District.
