OK Supreme Court Won’t Allow Walters into Religious Charter School Case

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters is being told he can’t take part in oral arguments in the lawsuit filed by Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond against the Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board for approving a public, Catholic virtual charter school.

The Oklahoman’s Murray Evans writes this is the third time Walters has tried to insert himself into the lawsuit. Walters asked for ten minutes during the scheduled April 2 oral arguments “to ensure that the interests of the State are adequately advocated.”

The Supreme Court says the Department of Education failed to show extraordinary cause to participate in oral arguments.
