Budget Summit Talks Continue

After a few days work among Senate subcommittees, it appears that Oklahoma House and Senate budget negotiators are getting closer to a deal. The group met again on Thursday afternoon with Governor Kevin Stitt at the Capitol.

While the House team continues to advocate for an income tax cut, the Senate negotiators were willing to listen to how revenue and spending would be adjusted to handle a tax cut.

When it comes to funding, the sides hashed out their differences over education agency, general government services, transportation, and public safety.

They also committed to passing $45 million in disaster aid to help the cities and towns hit by recent tornados and severe weather.

The House has scheduled Joint Appropriations and Budget Committee hearings to be ready for any budget work for next week.
