Mullin, Lankford Named to Senate Deputy Whip Team

U.S. Senators Markwayne Mullin and James Lankford will be helping to count Republican votes before they are taken in the U.S. Senate during the 119th Congress. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso named his team on Tuesday.

“I’m grateful to my friend, Senator John Barrasso, for choosing me to serve on his Deputy Whip team to help strengthen our Republican conference and fight for the America First agenda.

“With President Donald J. Trump headed back to the White House in a matter of days, Senate Republicans must be united and ready to govern effectively—that means being in the same boat, rowing in the same direction. Together, we will secure the southern border, unleash American energy, bring down the cost of living, and restore peace through strength on the world stage. All 77 counties in Oklahoma voted to re-elect President Trump, and I’ll do everything I can in my capacity as Deputy Whip to unify our conservative movement and Make America Great Again,” said Mullin in a statement after his team membership was announced.

Mullin also served as a Deputy Whip in the 118th Congress. He also will continue to fill the role as the designated Senate Republican liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Lankford has served as a Deputy Whip in previous years, too.
