Twenty Sheriffs Endorse Charles McCall for Governor

Twenty Oklahoma county sheriffs have endorsed Charles McCall in his campaign for governor, according to an announcement from his campaign.

The endorsements represent roughly one-fourth of the state’s 77 elected sheriffs.

McCall, a Republican candidate for governor and former Speaker of the Oklahoma House, said he is honored to have the support of the sheriffs and pledged to prioritize public safety if elected.

In statements released by the campaign, several sheriffs cited McCall’s past work on immigration and public safety policy as reasons for their support.

The 20 endorsing sheriffs are from Atoka, Bryan, Cherokee, Cimarron, Craig, Dewey, Grady, Harmon, Harper, Haskell, Johnston, Kay, Logan, Love, Murray, Payne, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Rogers and Woodward counties.

The endorsement announcement comes as candidates continue organizing support ahead of the 2026 governor’s race.
