Trump’s Shannon Endorsement Makes Waves

President Donald Trump has made two endorsements in Oklahoma elections within the past week. He started with Congressman Kevin Hern for U.S. Senate to replace newly minted Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin. The second endorsement was for an office which doesn’t work in D.C., the Lt. Governor’s race.

Trump’s Endorsement of T.W. Shannon has some, including fellow Republicans running for the same office, acknowledging it is a highly coveted factor in primary races.

The Oklahoman’s Alex Gladden writes State Auditor Cindy Byrd says she received a call from Trump to tell her he was endorsing Shannon. Byrd said she respected Trump but like him has won all 77 counties in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Representative Justin Humphrey also concedes Trump’s endorsement is valuable. However, he feels that just one endorsement won’t determine the race.
