McCall Signs Anti-Tax Pledge

Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles McCall announced Tuesday he has signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge, committing to oppose tax increases if elected governor.

The pledge, promoted by Americans for Tax Reform, is commonly used by conservative candidates and officeholders to publicly oppose raising taxes.

In a statement announcing the pledge signing, the organization pointed to several tax cuts approved during McCall’s tenure as House Speaker, including reductions to Oklahoma’s personal and corporate income tax rates.

“My commitment is simple: I will continue fighting to lower taxes and put more money back into the pockets of Oklahoma families,” McCall said.

McCall said he would continue pursuing tax cuts and pro-growth economic policies if elected governor.
