Oklahoma’s investment portfolio totaled approximately $17.6 billion in September, with its reported yield increasing to 3.86% from 3.74% a year earlier, according to the State Treasurer’s Office.
The September investment report showed assets under management were down approximately $266 million compared with September 2025.
Treasurer Todd Russ said protecting state funds remains the office’s priority as financial conditions change.
“Maintaining a balanced and disciplined investment strategy is essential as markets respond to changing economic conditions,” Russ said. “Our focus remains on protecting state funds while maintaining liquidity and pursuing competitive returns.”
U.S. Treasury securities accounted for 78.4% of the portfolio. Mortgage-backed securities represented 10.3%, while money market mutual funds made up 9.6%. The remaining investments included state and foreign bonds and certificates of deposit.
The report described a mixed economic picture, with higher energy prices contributing to inflation and rising Treasury yields.
According to the report, consumer prices increased 3.7% over the previous 12 months, up from 3.4% in August. Higher gasoline prices were a major contributor.
The report also noted slower national hiring, with employers adding 29,000 jobs in September and unemployment edging up to 4.2%.
