Politics is messing up everything else. Everything we enjoy is being treated as just another forum for delivering political messages.
With insights, I’m Ernest Istook.
The latest Obamacare ad features mothers of celebrities begging their kids to sign up for Obamacare so that mom can sleep at night. Then Michelle Obama adds, “We nag you because we love you.”
Obamacare commercials are crashing the college basketball playoffs, like one by NBA star LeBron James, who makes $39-million a year for endorsing products. You’ll also see the President on TV to promote his bracket—and his health care law.
Saint Patrick’s Day parades brought protests from those who wanted to carry banners promoting same-sex marriage. Organizers wanted to keep the holiday non-political.
TV shows and even video games have political messages slipped into them. And remember attacks on the Boy Scouts, Chick-fil-A, and Hobby Lobby.
Motherhood, sports, holidays, entertainment. Isn’t there anything we can enjoy without having it made political?
With insights, I’m Ernest Istook.
In regard to messages on Obamacare, there are apparently a great multitude that took similar messages at face value–and have crashed into reality. Apparently, your own Facebook page is trying to provide a forum for THEIR messages on Obamacare: “Eventually hype meets reality. No longer can Obamacare’s advocates make glowing promises to attract support. Now people experience for themselves the higher premiums, deductibles and co-pays, and they learn Obamacare was sold with false promises, with cynical disregard for the truth. This page is about the people who were deliberately deceived and victimized by those false claims, to tell their story and help make sure that NEVER AGAIN can the American people be fooled like this. This page is created and maintained by now-in-recovery former Congressman Ernest Istook.”
Just a friendly suggestion, Mr. Istook. You might want touch base with the folks behind the website, BrokenObamaCarePromises.com. I have the feeling you’d both find a lot in common to talk about.
