The second special session of 2023 is expected to start at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Oklahoma Senate. Governor Stitt is asking for the income tax to be reduced or eliminated, a minimum time for the budget proposal to be public before taking a vote, and a special tax elimination trigger if a court should decide a certain class of Oklahoman doesn’t have to pay a state tax, no one should have to pay it.
Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat has said he doesn’t see a clear way forward for Stitt’s plan.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is set to meet at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday to discuss the Governor’s special session call. Leadership has invited Stitt to testify before the committee.
The Oklahoma House is expected to convene in special session at 11:00 a.m. There are no House committee meetings set for Tuesday.
