Hern Joins Call for Secret Service Director to Resign

Congressman Kevin Hern has joined the chorus of Republicans who are calling for Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign due to security failures leading to a would-be assassin to fire a volley of shots at former President Donald Trump. One man was killed and two other hospitalized due to the shooting.

The shooter managed to climb on the roof of a building within 450 feet of the rally stage.

“The security failure of last week’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, warrants real accountability. In that spirit, the Director of the Secret Service should resign, and Congress should do its work in getting to the bottom of how this grave attack on President Trump and our country was allowed to happen. The American people deserve to know all the facts and catastrophic failures that led to an assassination attempt on President Trump,” said Hern.

Hern joins a growing group of Republicans calling for Cheatle to resign, including U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson.

She has been called to testify before Congress about the lapse in security.
