Lankford Working to Incentivize Charitable Giving

U.S. Senator James Lankford is working with U.S Senator Chris Coons of Delaware on legislation which incentivizes donations to charities, houses of worship, religious organizations, and non-profits. The Charitable Act extends the provisions of the CARES Act which resulted in 90 million tax returns utilizing the deduction with charitable organizations seeing a $30 billion increase in donations.

“America’s first safety net should never be the government—government is the least efficient caregiver by far. Our families, churches, and other nonprofits do incredible work to lift up those who need it most. Updating the tax law to incentivize giving empowers Americans to make an even bigger impact for the homeless, hurting, and hungry,” said Lankford.

The measure has the support of several non-profit organizations.
