Mullin Calls Schumer’s IVF Vote “Sorry Political Attempt”

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Tuesday forced a vote on the “Right to IVF Act” which was blocked by Senate Republicans. U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin denounced Schumer’s vote.

This is the second time Schumer has brought this legislation up for vote. It would create protections for in vitro fertilization procedures and treatments.

Mullin and other Republicans have voiced their support for IVF treatments.

Mullin calls Schumer’s actions political fear mongering ahead of the November General Election.

“Senate Republicans stand united in our support for nationwide access to IVF treatments. My wife Christie and I struggled for years to start a family, so this is personal. Thankfully, IVF is widely available in all 50 states. Chuck Schumer’s show vote today was nothing but a sorry political attempt to rattle the American people weeks ahead of an election, and we won’t stand for it. Supporting couples who are using IVF or other fertility treatments is not – and should not be – controversial. Republicans have always been the party of life, and Christie and I believe every child is a blessing from the Lord,” said Mullin.
