Chair of the Oklahoma House Education Budget Subcommittee, Representative Mark McBride, has written a letter to U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to launch an investigation into handling of federal program money by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
The Oklahoman’s Murray Evans writes a spokesman for the State Dept. of Ed. Believes the letter had political motives, singling out House Speaker Charles McCall and McBride.
McCall has resisted calls for an impeachment investigation into State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters but has approved a Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) investigation into how funding is distributed by the Education Department.
